Obituary for Bessie Maureen Whetstone
Bessie Maureen Roberts (“Maureen”) was born on December 2, 1934 in Warrington, England.
Maureen was teaching Sunday school in Burtonwood, England when she met Eugene while he was stationed there during the Korean War. In 1954 she moved to the United States to marry Eugene Whetstone. They were married for 61 years until his passing in 2015. They started their family in Atwater and later moved to South San Francisco to raise their four sons.
Maureen passed peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy struggle with dementia. She is survived by her sons; Wendell and wife Carol, Randall and wife Cathie, Raymond and wife Vivian, Clyde and wife Delaina, 8
grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Maureen is remembered as a kind, hospitable, fun, loving, and spirited woman. She adored her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
