Obituary for Catalina Zolotoff

Catalina Zolotoff epitomized living life to the fullest. Born Catalina Milla on November 25, 1915, she was the daughter of Salvador Milla and Engracia Zuniga, and raised by her aunt Josefina Milla de Rivas. An early adopter of new technology as a young woman in El Salvador, she learned to drive cars and fly planes. Interrupted in her art studies in Italy by the outbreak of WWII, she endured a 6-year wait to journey back home to El Salvador via Spain.

After the war Catalina migrated to San Francisco to reunite with her aunt and sister. She married Frank Zolotoff on October 26, 1946; they raised three children, Joe, Jeanette, and Mark. Dedicated to her family, she cared for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Catalina traveled extensively, both between North and Central America and throughout Europe. She continued her creative pursuits: teaching friends and family crochet, drawing and painting, and cooking.

Catalina Zolotoff was preceded by her husband Frank Zolotoff, and is survived by her sister Adela Rueda, her children and daughters- and son-in-law, her grand and great-grandchildren, and her friends around the world.
