Obituary for Cecilia Francisca Banfield

Cecilia Francisca Banfield, also known as “Granny Goose,” was born January 3, 1942 in San Francisco, CA and passed away in her Vacaville home June 9, 2023, peacefully in her sleep. She was the daughter of Manuel and Manuela Villa, older sibling of the late Malena Apadaca, mother of the late Charlie Banfield Jr and wife for 61 years of the late Charles Banfield Sr.

She loved, she laughed, she taught

She fell in love with rottweilers after owning her first one, Brutus, and through her hard work and dedication, she became a national dog champion with one of her later rottweilers, Sky. She owned 10 other rottweilers over the years — Lulu, Mac, Misha, Kilo, Bubba, Missy, Rocky, Shorty, Kiki, and Peanut. After her success with Sky, Cessi started her business: “Sky’s the Limit Dog Training.” For more than 30 years she taught students how to train their dogs to the same level she did.

Cessi will be heartily missed by many including cousins and close friends. Her memory will be carried on by her two siblings Manuel Villa and Irma Campos, her three children, Zina Gomez, John Banfield and Yvette Cortez, her 10 grandchildren Joshua, Justin, Jocelyn, William, Daniel, Jalisa, Anthony, Angela, Julia and Juan, along with her nine great-grandchildren.
