Obituary for Eleanor Ann Ehle

Eleanor A. Ehle passed away on February 24, 2024, at the age of 87, in Concord, California. She was born on September 15, 1936, in San Francisco, to her late parents, Elwood and Shandra Darling. Eleanor grew up in South San Francisco. She graduated from South San Francisco High School, attended College of San Mateo for one-year before going to work for the telephone company in San Francisco. She met the love of her life, Jack Ehle, who was a fireman in South San Francisco, on a blind date. They were married at St. Veronica’s Catholic Church in 1956. The couple first bought a house on Orange Avenue, then moved to Yellowstone Drive in South San Francisco in 1959, where they raised their son. They remained in South City until after Jack retired from the fire department, then they moved to Rio Vista, California, to be closer to their son.

Back in the day, Eleanor enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, decorating her home, traveling with their travel trailer, and spending time with family and friends. Eleanor loved Christmas and took delight in gift-giving to all the family, neighbors and friends.

Eleanor was a devoted and loving wife, and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a friend to many.

Eleanor is survived by her brother: Bob Darling (Kathy); her son: Steve Ehle (Vickey); along with two grandchildren: John Ehle (Amy), Katherine Padgett (Michael). Eleanor also had four great-grandchildren: Rowan Ehle, Haven Ehle, Seth Ehle, and Brayden Padgett. Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Jack Ehle to whom she was married for 53 years.

Family and friends are invited for a memorial service to be held at Garden Chapel in South San Francisco on Saturday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m.
