Obituary for Elena Nunez
Elena Burgos Nuñez, 73, of San Mateo, CA, passed away on May 5, 2023
Elena was born on September 27th, 1949 to Julian and Andressa Burgos in Cebu City, Philippines. After Elena graduated from South Western University in 1964-65 she went on to receive her CNA at The Jewish Home for the Aged in San Francisco, CA.
In 1967, she met her Sweetheart Arturo Nuñez in their neighborhood in Cebu City, PI. Elena and Arturo went on to have 3 children, Arturo Nuñez Jr., Rodolfo Nuñez and Eleanor Nuñez aka Egie, Boyet and Panggay.
She then became a Grandmother and Great-grandmother to 9 grandsons and 8 great-grand children.
In 2012 Elena Retired from the US Postal Service after 25+ years of dedicated work. She spent her time cooking, making memories with her big family right beside the love of her life, Art.
Elena was preceded in death by her father and mother, Julian and Andressa Burgos, and siblings Flor, Perserverando, Manolito, Rosela, and Julian Burgos. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Arturo Nunez; Loving children Arturo Nunez Jr, Rodolfo Nunez, and only daughter Eleanor Nunez; her beloved grandsons, Joseph Nunez, Aniva Nunez - Mamea, Phillip Nunez, Lorenzo Nunez, Alfonzo Nunez, Nikko Nunez, Thaddeus Nunez, Tauaveave Nunez - Mamea, Noah Nunez; her last living siblings Anita and Pamela Burgos.
Viewing will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Garden Chapel, where a Vigil Service will begin at 7:00PM. Mass of Resurrection will follow on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1 Notre Dame Ave, San Mateo, CA.
