Obituary for Emma Jordan

Emma J. Jordan, 85, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease.

She was born on July 6, 1938, in Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines, to parents Delfin Jordan, Sr. and Purificacion Jucaban Jordan. Emma pursued her education and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of San Agustin.

Emma was the family trailblazer, making her journey to the United States via Canada in the 1960s. She began her career as a Senior Rate Clerk at Southern Pacific Railroad, where she dedicated many years of her life, then ended her career with the Human Services Agency for the City and County of San Francisco. In 1970, she met and married Albert C. Yambao at San Francisco City Hall, and welcomed two daughters, Yvonne and Yvette.

Throughout her life, Emma's unwavering commitment was to provide quality education for her children to secure their futures. She balanced her days working at Southern Pacific with two part-time jobs, one as a real estate agent and the other, as a family service advisor at Skylawn Memorial Park. Her sense of humor was apparent as she skillfully (and ironically) juggled helping people find homes and final resting places.

In her retirement years, Emma pursued her passion for travel, exploring destinations from Yellowstone National Park to Martha's Vineyard, Australia and New Zealand, a pilgrimage to Italy and the Marian Shrines, to even getting re-baptized at Yardenit on the Jordan River.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, and six older brothers, Roberto, Rodolfo, Ernesto, Delfin, Jr., Hernando, and Fernando. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne and Yvette, along with their respective husbands, John and Patrick, including grandchildren Makena, Jack, Mayumi, and Lilyana.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Garden Chapel, South San Francisco; visitation will take place on Monday, November 13, from 5 pm to 8 pm (with a rosary at 7 pm) and on Tuesday, November 14, from 9 am to 11 am, with liturgy beginning at 11 am. The family will do a private interment on a later date, where her final resting place will be at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo. Emma's legacy of diligence, humility, humor, love, and devotion will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made to the charity of your choice in memory of Emma.
