Obituary for Faustino Escalante

Faustino Escalante was born on June 14, 1931, in Makaweli, Kauai. Faustino was man of many names. To his siblings he was Fausty. When he moved from Kauai to Honolulu his friends called him Frankie. He then met his future bride, Carmen Nardo and was known by her family and friends as Tino.

Tino was the 3rd child born to Isabello and Isabella Escalante. In 1946, Tino’s mother met Pacifico where they built a home in Waipoli and raised Tino and his 6 siblings Angel, Juanita, Maximo, Domingo, Catalina, and Franklin.

Tino is survived by his brother Franklin (Kathy) and 4 of his 6 children. Joni (Darryl), Tommy (Maria), Paul (Gabrielle) and Marc (Cheri). His wife of 33 years, Carmen and his other two children Nardo and Judi will be welcoming him at the gates of heaven. Tino leaves ten grandchildren to carry on his legacy. Jason & Erik (joni), Kyle (tommy), Erica, Kianna & Justin (Paul), Angie and Jilia (Marc) and Jaycee & James (Judi) and 4 great-grandchildren – Jordan (Marc) and Daniel, Adrian & Isabel (Judi).

Tino took pride in being a member of the IBEW Electricians Union where he retired in the late 1980’s, He enjoyed talking story, listening to his children play music, traveling back to Hawaii, playing golf, the occasional trip to the casino and cooking for his family and extended family. He was also a proud parishioner of Mater Dolorosa Church for over 50 years.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 8:30AM – 9:45AM at Garden Chapel. Funeral Mass follow at 10:30AM at Mater Dolorosa Church, 307 Willow Ave. SSF. Committal at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma.
