Gerard “Jerry” Fredric Tilton


Gerard “Jerry” Fredric Tilton was born in San Francisco to parents Martha and Gerard “Roddy” Tilton. Jerry graduated from Balboa High School in 1951. After high school, Jerry joined Sheetmetal Workers Local #104 where he was a member for 74 years.

Jerry has been a resident of South San Francisco for 68 years, was a member of the South San Francisco Elks #2091, and the South San Francisco Historical Society. He enjoyed playing golf as a member of the South City Duffers Golf Club, enjoyed bowling, and in his younger years played baseball on a team sponsored by Molloy’s Tavern. He frequented Dot & Andy’s Club and The Topper in South San Francisco, where he socialized with his many friends. Jerry was the life of the party and found his joy in spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Ginny Tilton (Jacopi), daughter Lynda Ruth, son Gerard “Gerry” Tilton, grandchildren Crystal Ruth and Gerard “Joey” Tilton, and many nieces and nephews. He was known as “Uncle Jer” by his Jacopi and Leggero nieces and nephews and “Uncle Nap” by the Tilton and Delorenzi families. He was preceded in death by former wife Esther “Lee,” sister Jane Manning, and brother Fredrick “Bud” Tilton.

Jerry passed away peacefully in his sleep at C&C Care Home in San Bruno. Sincere thanks to owner Ethel and her staff Cesar, Klowie, Cora, and Froilan for the excellent care Jerry received and the kind, exciting, and fun environment they provided.
