Obituary for Maria Antonieta Rubio Chevannier de Avanzino

Maria Antonieta Rubio Chevannier de Avanzino June 26, 1938 - August 17, 2019 Devoted mother and grandmother  Maria Antonieta Rubio Chevannier de Avanzino, 81, died peacefully Saturday, August 17th at her home in South San Francisco. She was known as Toni to everyone.   Toni was born June 26, 1938 in Mexico City, Mexico to Dr. Mateo and Cristina Rubio.   She met her husband, Giuseppe (Joe) Avanzino in 1970 and they had their civil marriage in San Francisco City Hall that same year and had their holy matrimony in Mexico City on February 26, 1971. They made their home in South San Francisco. Toni was very independent from an early age and began working in Sanborns (Mexico) where she became an expert in the camera business. She took a lot of pictures! When she moved to the United States, she worked at her sons’ elementary school (Ponderosa) as a schoolyard aide. She then started working at Service Merchandise selling her other passion, jewelry. She shared that passion with all her clients. Although, she liked to refer to her clients as friends. She worked all the way to the age of 75 at Ben Bridge Jewelers in San Mateo. Toni is survived by her two sons, Gustavo (m. Marisela) and Cristian (m. Sonja) as well as her 4 grandchildren, Vanessa, Giuseppe, Jessica and Sophia. She is also survived by her siblings Chata, Hector and Gela as w ell as brother-in-law, Jim Avanzino. Services will be held Saturday, September 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Veronica’s Catholic Church in South San Francisco.
