Obituary for Michael Ching-Po Lo

We regretfully inform you that Michael Lo passed on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the age of 94. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Lo, his siblings Hing Har Lo and Virginia Lai, his daughters Angela Lo Barnett, Cynthia Lee, and Sabrina Lo, and his grandchildren Griffin Barnett, Alanna Lee, Evelyn Lee, Kyle Wanveer, and James Wanveer. Michael was born in the province of Shanxi in Northern China and subsequently lived in Shanghai, Chengdu, and Hong Kong. He attended the University of Hong Kong and received a degree in accounting at Golden Gate University after he immigrated to the United States in 1964. He worked diligently as an accountant for Delta Dental for an impressive 55 years and was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed playing basketball as a young man in Hong Kong and met his wife, Alice, playing the sport (he on the boy’s basketball team, and she on the girl’s basketball team). Michael was an avid tennis and football fan and took pleasure in reading and keeping up on current events. Michael loved classical music and opera and liked to try new and interesting foods. One of Michael’s many hobbies was photography, and he was often seen behind the camera, documenting family outings and multiple vacations with his extended family. He was a wise and thoughtful man, and we will miss him dearly.

We will be holding a closed casket memorial service in honor of Michael’s life on Sunday, November 5th, 2023 at 11am at the Garden Chapel at 885 El Camino Real in South San Francisco, CA 94080 with a lunch gathering to follow at 1pm. Please join us in remembering our father.

Please note that the memorial will be recorded for those who cannot attend in person.
