Obituary for Peggy H. Wilberg

Peggy H. Wilberg passed away on February 19, 2022.

Peggy was born to James and Ethel Shephard on July 5, 1924 in London, England. She married James Wilberg on September 11, 1957, in San Francisco, California. She is survived by her two daughters and a step daughter: Elizabeth Wilberg of South San Francisco, Marie Nelson of Foresthill, and Jeanne Frazier of Rocklin; her brother William Shephard of Australia, along with two sons in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peggy was predeceased by her loving husband in 1962.

Peggy was a strong, loving, independent woman who raised two daughters by herself. She was a champion runner in school. She won many medals in the 60, 100, 150 yard races along with the hurdles. Peggy joined the WAAF (Women’s Auxiliary Air Force) during WWII and was stationed in India as a Leading Aircraft Woman.
In 1953, she immigrated to America to be with her eldest sister in New Jersey. She eventually moved to San Francisco, where she met and married her husband, Jim.

Peggy retired from the South San Francisco Unified School District in 1988. She remained active by volunteering for the American Lung Association, gardening, going for walks and lunches with her friends. Peggy loved to go for drives down the coast to have lunch by the beach.

The service will be held on March 1, 2022 at 10 am at the Garden Chapel in South San Francisco. Burial will be at Golden Gate Cemetery in San Bruno. The family requests that people make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of sending flowers.
