Obituary for Wayne Arthur Johnson

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Wayne “Baba” Johnson on Monday, March 4, 2024, from complications with sudden onset of pneumonia. His family and close friends were by his side.

Wayne was born in San Francisco, lived there shortly, and moved to Brisbane where he and his younger brother had fun tromping through the hills causing havoc. The family moved to San Bruno, and it was there Wayne laid down his roots and attended the public schools, later to graduate from Crestmoor High. He attended CSM but enlisted in the U.S. Army’s buddy system with his good friend Gary Rist.

Wayne was stationed in Germany. After his discharge, he returned to San Bruno and met his wife Kathy of 49 years. Wayne worked for PG&E, many years for the City and County of San Francisco and SFO Tech, where he retired in 2014.

Wayne is survived by his wife Kathy, his beloved children Debbie Christal, Eric, son-in-law Kevin Christal and Daughter in-law Sara Johnson. He leaves behind his 3 grandchildren Alexis Paige Christal(12), Ethan Mac Christal(10), and Archer Wayne Johnson(3), He loved them dearly and thoroughly enjoyed teasing them any chance he got! He also leaves behind his beloved brother Steve (Laura), brother in-law Mike Perscheid (Sylvia) and his closest and devoted friends Ken and Sue Daggett and Mike and Linda Abbey, as well as his nieces and nephews, two of whom have unfortunately preceded him in death.

We will all miss Wayne “Baba”, but our fond memories will remain in our hearts and minds eternally. We will all continue loving you so much.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Garden Chapel.
